At this stage, there should be a gap of 10-15mm between the upper end of the guide pins and the upper surface of the upper die holder.
- Maintain Adequate Clearances: After assembling the guide pins, guide bushings, upper mold plate, and lower mold plate, make sure there is a 2-3mm gap between the lower surface of the guide pins and the lower die holder and a similar gap between the upper end of the guide bushings and the upper mold holder.
- Address Asymmetrical Workpieces: For workpieces with asymmetrical shapes, it’s important to have guide pins of different diameters or positions on both sides to prevent misalignment during mold assembly.
- Consider Lateral Pressure: When dealing with molds subject to significant lateral pressure, use support pads on the mold holder to prevent the guide bushings and guide pins from bearing lateral forces.
- Ventilation for Guide Bushings: To eliminate trapped air, consider adding vent holes to the guide bushings.
