What Are Spur Gears?
A spur gear is a cylindrical gear with straight teeth cut parallel to the axis of rotation. It is the most common and cost-effective type of gear for transmitting power and rotary motion between two parallel shafts. Types of Spur Gears We Offer
Metal Spur Gears — Manufactured from high-strength materials including stainless steel (SUS304, 416SS), alloy steel (SCM440/4140), brass (C3604), and aluminum (A6061). Plastic Spur Gears — Made from engineering plastics such as POM (acetal), nylon (PA66, MC901), and PEEK. Lightweight, corrosion-resistant, and self-lubricating. Ideal for food processing equipment, medical devices, office automation, and applications requiring low noise and no lubrication.
Anti-Backlash Spur Gears — Designed with a split-gear spring-loaded mechanism that eliminates backlash (lost motion) between meshing gears. Critical for precision positioning systems, CNC machinery, robotics, and instrumentation where accuracy and repeatability are essential.
Composite Spur Gears — Combine the strength of metal hubs with the lightweight, noise-dampening properties of engineered plastic gear bodies. Excellent for applications needing reduced inertia, lower noise, and cost-effective performance.
