Description

What Are Differentials?

A differential gear mechanism distributes input torque between two output shafts, allowing them to rotate at different speeds while receiving power from a single input. Standard differentials consist of a pinion (bevel) gear on the input shaft that drives a carrier (ring) gear, which houses two planet (star) bevel gears that engage with two output-side end gears.

Types of Differentials We Offer

Hollow Shaft Differentials — Output shafts are hollow tubes allowing through-passage of wires, cables, or other components. Compact design for space-constrained applications.

Solid Shaft Differentials — Standard solid output shafts for high-torque transmission. Maximum strength and reliability for demanding applications.

Anti-Backlash Differentials — Patented zero-backlash design ensures precise positioning with no lost motion between end gears. Stainless steel gears and ball bearings. Breakaway torque from 0.15 oz-in. Essential for precision instrumentation and servo systems.

Differential End Gears

Differential end gears are available in plain bore and clamp-type hub styles. Standard end gears can be ordered separately and assembled to the differential at no extra charge. Custom end gears are available for special ratio or mounting requirements.
