What Are Gear Racks?
A gear rack is a linear bar with teeth that meshes with a pinion gear to convert rotary motion into linear motion. The rack is essentially a segment of a gear with an infinite radius. Together with a pinion, it forms a rack-and-pinion system widely used in linear motion applications.
Types of Gear Racks We Offer
Rectangular Gear Racks — Square/rectangular cross-section with straight teeth on one face. Most common type for general linear motion. Available with finished ends or pre-drilled mounting holes. Carbon steel, stainless steel.
Round Gear Racks — Cylindrical cross-section with teeth cut along the length. Ideal for compact installations where space is limited. Stainless steel (416SS).
Helical Gear Racks — Teeth cut at a helix angle for smoother engagement with helical pinions. Quieter operation and higher load capacity. Suitable for high-speed linear motion systems.
Flexi-Racks (Flexible Racks) — Segmented modular rack system that can be joined end-to-end for any length. Easier installation and replacement without removing the full assembly. Available with matching pinions and clamps.
